This is an example of storytelling with restrictions in this project lying in the minimal footage available and practicalities of safeguarding around possible use of featuring children in the productions. The route that was chosen involved interviewing foster parents and telling their story with tactile prompts. The questions for the foster parents were carefully compiled beforehand in partnership with the client, with the desired output in mind throughout. On top of the interview footage, the team turned their stories into a living scrapbook using stop motion and time lapse techniques with a variety of props, from whipped cream to glitter to create a visually fun story (and mess) – ingredients involved in caring for a child – to encourage fostering in the local area.
